Between August 22-24, Air Canada detected unusual login activity to its online app prompting it to lock down its 1.8M accounts after determining that approximately 20,000 accounts’ data had been stolen.  The data within these accounts may have included passport details including number, country, expiration date, birth date, and PII details such as names, email addresses, and phone numbers.  Passport information has the potential to be abused in the creation of banking, insurance, and cell phone accounts.
