Immense cyber attacks were also detected on South Korea government and private sites.\nSouth Korean government agencies, banks and Internet provider websites were inundated with bot attacks in a suspected cyber attack Tuesday. An initial investigation found that many personal computers were infected with a virus ordering them to visit major official Web sites in South Korea and the U.S. at the same time, Korea Information Security Agency official Shin Hwa-su has said. Some South Korean sites include the National Assembly, Shinhan Bank, Korea Exchange Bank, the presidential Blue House, the Defense Ministry, and, the top Internet provider Naver.\nThese cyber attacks were typical denial of service attacks which hackers can employ simple software against targeted websites. Except, for this much firepower to turn the outages into 24 hour or more on government systems which are heavily fortified, they would have had to incorporate thousands of infected machines operating as a botnet.\nDHS has claimed in the past that there were 5,499 known breaches of U.S. government computers in 2008, up from 3,928 the previous year, and just 2,172 in 2006. The numbers are ambiguous though because ever information security organization and professional uses slightly different measurements and criteria for the concept of a breach, policy violation, or outage.\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"amazonpipp_noncename":"","amazon-product-isactive":"","amazon-product-single-asin":"","amazon-product-content-location":"","amazon-product-content-hook-override":"","amazon-product-excerpt-hook-override":"","amazon-product-singular-only":"","amazon-product-amazon-desc":"","amazon-product-show-gallery":"","amazon-product-show-features":"","amazon-product-newwindow":"","amazon-product-show-list-price":"","amazon-product-show-used-price":"","amazon-product-show-saved-amt":"","amazon-product-timestamp":"","amazon-product-new-title":"","amazon-product-use-cartURL":"","amazon_featured_post_meta_key":"","_amazon_featured_alt":"","amazon-product-template":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[66,65],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-105","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-breaches","category-vulnerabilities"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.infosecurity.pro\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/105","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.infosecurity.pro\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.infosecurity.pro\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.infosecurity.pro\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.infosecurity.pro\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=105"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.infosecurity.pro\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/105\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":8349,"href":"https:\/\/www.infosecurity.pro\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/105\/revisions\/8349"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.infosecurity.pro\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=105"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.infosecurity.pro\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=105"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.infosecurity.pro\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=105"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
