Cape Cod Community College robbed by hackers

Cape Cod Community College’s president John Cox sent an email on Friday December 7th, 2018 to faculty stating that hackers have fraudulently transferred $807,130 using the college’s banking information.

The college was able to retroactively recover $278,887.  The attack is blamed on a virus which infected many hard drives.  As a result, the college is installing next-generation endpoint protection software campus-wide and re-educating employees on security protocols.
