Clemson Alumni Assn's email platform security lapse

On March 24, 2018, an unauthorized phishing email was sent to school alumni regarding eligibility to win a prize from Clemson University for completing a survey.

As a result of this incident, you may have received an unsolicited, suspicious email on March 24 stating you are eligible to win a prize offered by Clemson University in return for completing a survey. Please be advised that this e-mail was spam and did not originate from the CAA or Clemson University.

The third-party vendor has taken immediate steps to restrict access to all affected e-mail accounts and to stop the sending of unsolicited emails, including suspending all outbound emails, resetting credentials on all impacted accounts, and disabling all links in the suspicious emails.   Additionally, if you did click the link or complete any forms within the spam e-mail sent on March 24, it is advisable to take additional steps to ensure your computer is virus-free as an extra security measure.
