Classified data breach at Y-12 National Security Complex

The contracting company, Consolidated Nuclear Security LLC (CNS), which replaced Babcock & Wilcox (B&W) as of July 1, 2014, received a letter on September 3, 2014, notifiying them of a “security event” discovered in June. The “security event” concerns “potential mishandling and unauthorized access to classified information.” CNS is now responsible for this security event. They have been asked to deliver documents to the DoE by September 16th and and will have an on-site investigation October 6-9th from the Department of Energy. While Y-12 has had some physical security incidents in recent years due to nuclear protests, no details about this particular information security breach are immediately available [AMAZONPRODUCTS asin="1439821488"]]]>
