Auto Dealer Accounts Breached

An undisclosed number of San Diego, California's Kearny Mesa Infiniti customers were recently notified that their personal information may have been compromised. The car dealer says that customer's names, birthdates, addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers and driver's license information may have been accessed by a former employee to obtain prescription drugs.

The information was improperly accessed and an internal review was conducted to determine the scope of the issue, as well as how many customers may have been affected. Kearny Mesa Infiniti said in the notification letter that, "Based on our internal review and the private nature of the information that may have been improperly accessed, we are notifying any individual who provided us with their personal information during the accused individual's employment."

While they are not sure how many customers’ accounts were accessed, they are recommending that all those who received letters to place a fraud alert on their credit files and keep an eye on their credit reports.
